Mr Shantanu Kundu



OPERATIONAL DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER



Shantanu Kundu is the founder of the Be Free Campaign. In 2020, he was awarded a Diana Award for services to charity. Shantanu is a student doctor and has dedicated his life to the service of others.

Dr Arabinda Kundu



DIRECTOR OF DONOR SUPPORT

Dr Arabinda Kundu is a consultant in Sexual Health and Clinical Director for the Midlands Partnership Trust. After qualifying as a therapist alongside his main medical roles. He has taken a keen interest in mental health. With his strong list of contacts and endless support. We hope that he can ensure the strong movement of the campaign.

Dr Kiron Griffin



CLINICAL LEAD
PSYCHIATRIST



Dr Kiron Griffin is a Psychiatrist based in the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust. Working within the NHS has taught him a lot about the need for stigma to be relieved in order for people to get the help that they need.

DR AHMED WAQAS



RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL LEAD
PSYCHIATRIST



Dr Ahmed Waqas is a Psychiatrist with a special interest in Research and Education. He qualified from Lahore, Pakistan, and has authored and supervised hundreds of papers in mental health. Dr Waqas is currently completing a doctoral qualification in Psychiatry and aims to inspire and improve medicine worldwide.

DR NATALIE ASHBURNER



PSYCHIATRIST



Natalie is an NHS psychiatrist with an interest in child and adolescent mental health. She trained as a doctor at the University of Birmingham and qualified in 2015. She is passionate about advocating for mental health and recognises that good mental health relies on us to focus not only on how we think, feel and behave as an individual but on how we interact with others and how we function as a society. Early psychoeducation and intervention in schools and youth centres are vital for developing good mental wellbeing. She also set up her Instagram account @thementalhealthdoctor as a way of exploring and expressing some of these issues, both raising awareness and understanding of mental illness but also the way our society and culture impact our mental health and what we can do about it

MISS ALLY JAFFEE



STRATEGIC CONSULTANT



Ally is about to qualify as a doctor from Bristol. She is passionate about young people's mental health and aims to pursue a career in psychiatry. After struggling with her own mental health she believes in creating an environment and community where people can open up. She has been accepted onto the NHS clinical entrepreneurship programme and founded the BBC award-winning community interest company - Nutritank where she promotes lifestyle medicine. She has worked closely with the likes of Jamie Oliver. She would love to sprinkle her fairy dust.

Dr Maya Shah



MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL



Dr Maya Shah is a junior doctor at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. She has a keen interest in mental health with an aim to enter a career in general practice. Maya is responsible for reviewing our content as well as aiding in safeguarding processes.

DR GABRIELLE TITLEY-WILSON



MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL



Gabrielle Titley-Wilson (Gaby) is a junior doctor currently working at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital. She has a keen interest in pursuing a career in psychiatric medicine and is passionate about helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental health. She recently created a policy for Merseycare, outlining guidance for assessing mental health and well-being amongst refugees and those seeking asylum. In addition to her medical degree, Gaby achieved a distinction in a Master of Laws, with special interest in mental health and policy.

Miss Aleena Siby

Miss Zoe Edwards



Operations Manager



Zoe has graduated from Queen's University Belfast with first class honours in Psychology, she has a keen interest in clinical and educational psychology and is studying a masters in Developmental Psychopathology MSc at Durham. Her experience and expertise in psychology will be priceless in aiding our charitable objectives.

Miss AISHWARYA KRISHNAN

Aishwarya is a student doctor with an interest in psychiatry and generalist medicine. She is really keen to speak to new volunteers and individuals, helping them fulfil their roles within the charity.

Rachael is a keen mental health advocate who wants to change the way mental health is perceived in society. She has been a dedicated member of the Be Free Campaign for a while and has dedicated her time to changing the way children learn about mental health.

Miss Yuliia Maidannyk



YOUNG ADULT OUTREACH LEAD (MANCHESTER BRANCH)



Yuliia is currently a physics student at the University of Manchester. Having been born into a family of doctors, she has developed an interest in psychiatry. As a passion project for college studies, she wrote a research essay on the topic of borderline personality disorder. Yuliia is passionate about educating herself and spreading awareness about mental health through outreach to a wider audience.

Mr Finn Thompson



WELLBEING CONTENT LEAD



Finn is a final year Psychology student from the University of Liverpool. He has a strong interest and connection to supporting a stigma-free future of mental health for all. He hopes to aid in the dismantling of prejudice and stereotypical views of mental health by assisting the well-needed overhaul of societal mental health preconceptions. Through his role as a Wellbeing Content Lead, he hopes to create resources that help and promote the importance of healthy wellbeing whilst contributing to normalising mental health.

Destiny is currently a psychology student at the University of Liverpool. During her time on this course, she has developed a huge passion for clinical psychology and mental health. Being part of a team that is working towards making a positive difference in society is something that really matters to her in fulfilling a whole university experience. MISS JAIME CAMPFIELD



YOUTH OUTREACH MANAGER



Originally from South Wales Jaime is currently a psychology student at the University of Liverpool. During recent studies she has been given a refreshing perspective on the stigma surrounding mental health today. From this she wrote a thorough research essay on depression and classification models of mental distress. Additionally she is passionate about working with a younger demographic in this field as a part of her future goal to become a teacher. Thus she aims to continue to educate herself whilst also reaching out to educate others.

Miss Faye Boswell

Faye is in the final year of her degree at Liverpool Hope University with aspirations of a career in Event Management/coordination. Earlier this year, Faye managed her own event project where she created an evening promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing, she then came across the Be Free campaign and felt it was something she would love to contribute to! Faye has always been keen to raise awareness of mental health and this is a subject she feels extremely passionate about. Faye can’t wait to be able to combine her skills in event management with her aims to help break down the barriers and stigma surrounding mental health.

Miss Minnah Deef



CONTENT LEAD



Minnah is a first year medical student at the University of Liverpool. As she has witnessed the stigma of mental illness and the negative impact it has when living abroad, she is hoping to help break down barriers and labels associated with mental health, as she believes that every individual's physical and mental wellbeing is valid. The topic is very close to her heart and she hopes that her experiences would help raise awareness and spark conversations about the issue.

Kelly is a medical student at the University of Liverpool. She wants to reduce the stigma from mental health, as it is a topic that she feels strongly about. Teegan Owens is a Masters student at Liverpool Hope University. She has a real passion drama and creative arts, and uses these on a daily basis to promote positive wellbeing. She aims to inspire people to be their best possible self, by supporting them and bringing happiness into their lives. Krissy's position as a Public Relations Lead for Be Free specialises in promoting the good work done through the charity's outreach and its commitment to supporting those who need it. Mental health awareness is a key aspect of the charity's PR mission and, unfortunately, this is inextricably wound up in the misrepresentations and misunderstanding of mental health. As a PR lead, Krissy's making it her mission to help develop the presence of the charity so it can continue its work to help break down harmful mental health stigma and make a difference.
