CONNECT

Connecting refers to building strong relationships with people who can allow us to share our feelings and feel understood.

These relationships can allow us to share positive experiences as well as to be able to receive and give emotional support.

WHY IS CONNECTING IMPORTANT?

SHARING FEELINGS

Strong relationships with people can allow us to share feelings and allow us to be understood.

SHARING EXPERIENCES

Relationships allow you to share positive experiences, and can give you emotional support, as well as the chance to do the same to others.

SELF - WORTH

Relationships help bring a sense of belonging and self worth.

IMPROVES QUALITY OF LIFE

A study showed that social connection is a greater determinant to health than obesity, smoking and high blood pressure!

HOw can I Connect?

Speak to a friend or relative you haven't spoken to in a while

Arranging regular catch-ups or calling up someone who you might have not stayed in touch with in a while is a good way to connect.

Make a new friend!

Doing simple things like smiling and making eye contact may initiate a new social conversation. Asking questions and being present helps when it comes to connecting with people too!

Volunteer at a local community

Not only does volunteering connect you to others, it also allows you to give, which is physically and mentally rewarding. Why not volunteer to work with us?

Look for a social event that involves something you're interested in

There are plenty of clubs and societies with multiple interests you can join. You can always start one, too!

Switch your phone off and be in the moment!

Even though social media provides us with social connection, it can't replace the richness of face-to-face relationships. In addition, the frequent use of cell phones can distract you and limit your potential to fully enjoy experiences. Switching your phone of every once in a while can help you deeper connections with people face to face and enjoy the moment!
