EXERCISE

It is recommended that you exercise for 150 minutes a week at least.

We know that there's a relationship between staying active and having good mental health and wellbeing.

WHY EXERCISE?

BUILDING CONNECTIONS

It can help you get connecting outside your home which help reduce isolation and loneliness.

ENDORPHIN RELEASE

It releases endorphins and serotonin which help you feel good. The same endorphins that make you feel good are the same chemicals that sharpen your memory and thinking.

STRESS REDUCTION

It can reduce stress and anxiety and even help with recovery from some mental health conditions!

INCREASE SELF-ESTEEM

Regular activity can improve your self esteem, especially when you achieve the targets that you set.

IMPROVED SLEEP

It can help improve your sleep and help you feel more energised.

HOw can i become more active?

Start simple

Start with small goal(s) and slowly increase your activity levels over time. Beginning with simple activities such as walking, gardening or doing small house-hold tasks are a good way to begin!

Do something you enjoy

If exercising feels like a chore, then it is not the right activity for you. Doing activities that your enjoy will make exercising easier, more interesting and rewarding over time. Doing sports with family or friends can help motivate you and have someone who can hold you accountable towards being more active.

Create small habits

Making small changes to your day will really adds up in the long term, even though it might not feel like it right now. Examples include:

- Walking to work or cycling instead of driving.

- Taking the stairs instead of the lift.

- Moving around the office every hour or so, maybe talk to a colleague at their desk rather than emailing or calling?
